Thinking in numbers
WHO IS MOST LIKELY TO EMPLOY THOSE WITH AUTISM?
Statistics are in our favor
According to the Autism Society of America, approximately 1.5 million people in America have autism. At a very conservative estimate, it’s reasonable to assume that 6 people have been affected by each person with autism (parents, aunts and uncles, siblings, cousins, grandparents etc.) This means approximately NINE MILLION people are affected by autism in the USA. This group of people is extremely willing to employ people with autism. They understand that many on the autism spectrum can make a valuable contribution to the workforce. In fact, I’m pretty confident that most of these people would be excited to hire someone on the autism spectrum , if for no other reason than because setting a trend of hiring people with autism will safeguard their own relative’s future. If 2% of these people provide employment to someone with autism in their own corporation or within a company and 98% of these people do absolutely NOTHING, it would still create 180,000 jobs a year for those with autism. This goal can easily be achieved! They just have to hear about this cause.
